Slow & Steady Progress

Work has continued at a painstaking speed on the Akem-Shield of Sekhmet Who Incinerates the Rebels, with the wings of what will be the newborn sun as a scarab beetle devouring days and then weeks of intense labor due to their extreme intricacy and tiny size. These are the most detailed aspects of this cult image, requiring magnification to be viewed properly, and each feather requiring individual building up with gesso followed by sanding to perfect. The scarab itself will be the centerpiece of the cobra-encircled sun-disk crowning the head of the Goddess, a stunning cabochon of Libyan Desert glass.
